Job Description : Overview:
Scope of Responsibilities: Gain knowledge and experience required to manage or own a small business (fabric, quilt, machine sales concentration). Initial focus will be on the business office (marketing, finance & bookkeeping, human resource management including payroll).
An ideal candidate would blossom intooverseeing the day-to-day operations of the entire store.
Responsibilities:
- Receive training and performs duties in all store departments (starting with the business office) to become familiar with staff functions, operations, management viewpoints and company policy and practices that affect each phase of business
- Observe experienced workers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards for performance of departmental duties
Finance and Bookkeeping
- Assist in the development of an annual store operating budget, and period reporting of actual vs budget
- Handle day-to-day debits and credits, ensuring accuracy and compliance for all financial transactions.
- Process and manage vouchers for various payments and transactions. Assist in the collections and management of all Accounts Receivables, including Third Party, Compensation, and Finger Lakes Fabrics Charge
- Identify, investigate, and resolve any discrepancies in financial records.
- Perform general AP/AR invoicing and functions.
- Occasionally perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between internal records and bank statements.
- Assist with Accountants in developing tax return and reporting to NYS and the federal government.
Human Resources and Payroll
- Assist in the hiring, development, performance review, praise and disciplinary actions of store personnel
- HR and Payroll development, maintenance of policy and procedures
- Process bi-monthly payroll and productivity budget guidelines are met
- Assist with reporting
Marketing and Advertising
- Assist with developing and maintaining all marketing, advertising and promotional programs are fully executed and implemented. Includes Webpage, social media, external and internal events.
Other
- Oversight responsibilities to ensure store is compliant with all state and federal regulations and requirements
- Assist with ensuring the physical plant is maintained to protect customer and employee safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Preferred: Degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field
- Preferred: 4 or more years previous experience in Merchandising, Store Management or related field
Part-time: 18-24 hours per week
Pay: $20-25 per hour
