We Provide Training:
You don’t have to know sewing machines to be a Sewing Machine Repair Technician. Finger Lakes Fabrics (FLF) will provide training!

Many Sewing Machine Repair Technicians have a background in mechanics, electrical servicing, handyman services, HVAC repair, auto mechanics, small machine mechanics and appliance repair.

Finger Lakes Fabrics will cover costs for the technician to attend in-person manufacturer training for certification on specific machines. Next training in Chicago, January 30 to February 3rd.  In addition, FLF will provide additional in-person, written and online training. All technicians have access to ongoing online training available on-demand and for use while repairing machines.

Job Duties:

  •          Technicians repair and service machines, including a standard “clean, oil and lubricate” service as well as replicating customers’ machine issues and troubleshooting solutions.
  •          Occasionally, technicians provide on-site repair services, traveling to a customer’s home or business.
  •          Technicians research needed parts and work with the manufacturer to order replacement parts for machines.
  •          Technicians also use a point-of-sale system to track detailed notes on customer repairs and to look up previous repair history.
  •          Technicians speak with customers and FLF owner as well.
  • Verify warranty and service contract coverages, developing estimates, writing repair orders, and maintaining customer records.


  •          Work with Hand tools - Experience working with common mechanical hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, Allen wrenches etc.) Experience preforming electronic troubleshooting and repair.
  •          Customer service - Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  •          Research - Must be able to work with limited supervision. Great attention to detail.
  • Driver's License - Valid Driver License and clean driving record.
    Computer skills - Computer operation skills (online research, typing and data input, etc.)

Physical Demands:

  •          While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
  •          The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  •          Must have the ability to manually grip and manipulate items often in a repetitive motion, (items such as but not limited to hand tools).
    Must be able to participate in training courses online and in-person (some travel may be required)

    Must be able to drive to perform outside service.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Schedule: Flexible and negotiable
